Mangalnath Temple

According to ancient texts (Purans), Mangal (Mars) is considered the son of Prithvi (Earth), meaning it was formed from the Earth. In spiritual stories, Mangal was created from the melted energy of Lord Shiva. In astrology (Jyotish Shastra), Mangal is known for its fiery and aggressive nature. Jyotish Shastra is based on 12 zodiac signs, planets (grah), and constellations (nakshatra). Mangal is also known as the Lord of Aries. The Mangalnath Temple is located on the banks of the Kshipra River in Ujjain, which is believed to be at the center of the world. The Tropic of Cancer (Karka Rekha) passes through Ujjain, making it an important location for astronomy. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered a holy place in Ujjain. According to the Matsya Purana, Mangalnath is the birthplace of Mars (Mangal). The temple is surrounded by peaceful natural scenery, overlooking the vast Kshipra River.
