Navgrah Shani Mandir in Ujjain is a highly revered temple dedicated to Lord Shani (Saturn) and the nine celestial planets, known as the Navgrahas. Situated on the banks of the sacred Shipra River in the village of Triveni, about 8 km from Ujjain city, this temple holds immense astrological and spiritual significance.
This temple is especially known for being one of the few where Lord Shani is worshipped in his fiercest and most powerful form. It is believed that worshipping at this temple can reduce the malefic effects of planetary doshas, particularly Shani dosha (Saturn affliction), and bring peace, prosperity, and justice in one’s life.
The black stone idol of Lord Shani is enshrined in the center, surrounded by representations of the other eight planets—Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Rahu, and Ketu. Devotees offer mustard oil, black sesame seeds, and light oil lamps, especially on Saturdays, which is considered the most auspicious day to worship Lord Shani.
The temple also draws thousands during Shani Amavasya and Shani Jayanti, when special rituals, yagya, and planetary poojas are conducted. Many people visit the temple to seek remedies for hardships, legal issues, career obstacles, or prolonged suffering believed to be caused by planetary positions.
Navgrah Shani Mandir is not just a place of worship—it’s a cosmic center where divine energy is believed to align with planetary forces, offering devotees relief, guidance, and spiritual strength in the face of life’s challenges.
